Consumer Mobile Technology

We oversaw corporate development, financial planning & analysis, marketing strategy, program management, market selection, and demand planning for a company that provided mobile internet to consumers on a $1.4 Billion wireless network.  We also helped raise capital for a smartphone application developer.

Interactive Digital Advertising

We've worked on business development, pairing an interactive digital advertising start-up with the largest video advertising network in the world.  We also developed a working prototype of their technology that integrated multiple web services utilizing a REST/PHP/Python platform and saved 90% from their existing technology.

Payments Industry

We’ve worked on several assignments in the payments industry helping secure angel funding, debt financing, and equity.   In addition, we’ve forged strategic partnerships, provided business development, negotiated vendor agreements, and worked on sales agent recruiting and training.

Mergers & Acquisitions

We were involved in various stages of several mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships in the payments industry, oil, natural gas, power, technology, wireless, travel, and interactive digital advertising.

Energy Supply Chain and Marketing - Natural Gas / Oil /  Power

We had comprehensive authority governing all natural gas marketing and supply chain agreements for a division of a top tier energy company.  We  oversaw risk management, trading, financial planning and analysis, transfer pricing, and a research team of quantitative PhD’s.  We priced one of the first natural gas derivative transactions in the United States and were a pioneering market maker for gasoline derivatives and futures in Europe.

Consumer Recommendation Engines

We demonstrated that consumer recommendation engines can be built without a PhD and without costly equipment by developing a platform using R (similar to SAS/SPSS/Matlab), MPI (Message Passing Interface), LAMP(Linux-Apache-MySQL-php), Amazon EC2, & S3.  Our recommendation engine managed 100 million customer records and cut costs 90% from standard technology.

Cloud Services Provider

We provided coaching, capital raising, and guerilla marketing for a pioneer in online content sharing and storage.

Sustainability

We've worked on a wide range of projects in sustainability, working alongside government to manage waste, working with contractors in organics recycling, and working with manufacturers in highway vehicle efficiency.  We also wrote a solar tech grant for an educational non-profit.

Manufacturing

We’ve worked on a variety of assignments in manufacturing.  We obtained a $1.5 million line of credit for a manufacturer in a very competitive marketplace, securing interest rates substantially under prime.  We also strengthened the company’s relationship with shareholders and the Board of Directors, winning support for expanded growth.

Private Equity / Venture Capital

On rare occasion, we have made investments in our clients, taking equity or debt positions.  Additionally, we have worked with several venture capital and private equity firms capital raising and preparing investor materials.

Turnaround

We turned around a struggling natural gas marketer, grew revenues two-fold to $3 Billion per year, drove gross profit and achieved gross margins 50% over industry norm, while securing an unprecedented 90% of customers after a 4x increase in competition.

Real Estate

We analyzed several resort communities for investment opportunities and were involved in residential development and re-development projects.  We also participated in a feasibility study for a commercial real estate franchise seeking to provide investment services for high-growth tertiary markets.  Read our Commercial Real Estate Notebook.

Risk Management

We had comprehensive responsibility for risk management and managed the profit/loss of 14 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas sales.  We pioneered application of real option theory to the valuation of storage assets and priced one of the first natural gas derivative transactions in the US.  In addition, we managed profit and loss for six energy commodities and derivatives across five continents while working from three international centers of trade.

Tourism / Travel / Hospitality

We oversaw marketing, advertising, and promotion for a mountain resort community, wrote a grant application that secured a record level of funding for travel promotion, and formed a marketing alliance between rival organizations in a synergistic partnership that leveraged marketing and public relations best practices from each.

Economic Development

We oversaw a project to help a public waste facility optimize diversion and re-use strategies to create new jobs and spur local industry.   We were a key contributor to an economic impact study on travel promotion in the Yellowstone Region.  And, we wrote a grant application for a governmental entity seeking to fund a economic development office.
